Launched in Norway in 2016, we've expanded to thirteen European countries, and we're not stopping there. Apply now to join the product team from Portugal, and help us build a brighter future ☀️

About Otovo

Now, more than ever, the world needs easy and affordable access to clean energy. At Otovo, we are dedicated to leading Europe into a clean, electrified future. We have built a thriving marketplace that connects homeowners wishing to embrace sustainable living with installation companies. Together, we offer cutting-edge solar and battery solutions, making it easy and fun to produce and use clean energy at your home.

As a leader in the European green tech scene, our mission is to make solar energy not just accessible, but easy, trustworthy, and affordable. Simply put, we win when the planet wins.

The Partnership team and what we're looking for

A "partner" is a company that wishes to offer or sell solar to their customers but lacks the necessary infrastructure or tools. With our functional marketplace established across 13 European markets, Otovo is well-positioned to fill this gap. For instance, Leroy Merlin, a significant player in the global DIY market, collaborates with Otovo to initiate a solar sales experience directly from their site.

We're seeking an experienced and creative full-stack Software Engineer to join our distributed Partnership team. We’re a friendly, collaborative and strategically impactful team of 5 individuals, working out of Lisbon and Oslo.

We work closely with the VP of Partnerships and local managers across 13 European markets to design solutions that significantly enhance the experiences of our partners and their customers. We're seeking someone who combines technical prowess, creativity, and a user-focused mindset.

In this role, your impact will resonate beyond our immediate team. You'll be given the opportunity to co-lead strategic partner engagements, actively participate in both product and technical initiatives from start to finish.

Partnerships help us amplify Otovo’s reach, ensuring that more people across Europe have access to solar and empowering them to make sustainable choices. As an essential member of our team, you will enhance our product offerings, positioning yourself as a trusted technical advisor while making a tangible difference in our pursuit of a cleaner future.

What you’ll do

Your workday will be a mix of the following:

  • Participate in product and technical initiatives from initiation, through development, to production and maintenance.
  • Display creativity and your unique skills when building great web applications for both internal and external usage, focusing on end-user value.
  • Ensure partner adoption of Otovo’s products while aligning with partners specific needs and existing solutions. Feed your insights back into our strategy, thus contributing to leading Europe into a clean electrified future.

Our tech stack

Being a fairly small team we like technologies that give each engineer a lot of leverage. These include:

These all help us iterate fast. We ship daily.

Together is better

We can’t build sustainable solutions without being intentional about diversity, inclusion, and equity. With a presence in 13 European markets, we embrace the rich diversity and perspectives our colleagues represent. Every Friday, individuals from across the company are celebrated for their contributions in our CEO’s weekly summary. We take pride in nurturing a workplace environment where every team member, irrespective of their role, background, or location, is given a fair chance to succeed and thrive. As we say at Otovo, together is better.

The product function gathers quarterly for in-person meetings, to collaborate on direction and share learnings across team boundaries. Despite geographical distances, we provide friendly and flexible spaces for learning and growth. Here, you’ll meet curious people wanting to improve themselves and the world around them. One example is our regular “Product breakfast talks” where engineers and designers share their passion, insights and expertise.

We offer clear paths for career growth, with opportunities to advance as a technical lead, engineering manager, or even product manager, depending on your long term interests and goals.

We Offer

  • A job with a positive and meaningful impact on the planet.
  • Competitive salary, attractive annual bonus scheme, pension, and health insurance coverage.
  • Generous gear budget (we’ll get you the gear you need), and unlimited book budget.

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in a product company.

  • Willingness to learn parts of the stack you’re unfamiliar with, such as Typescript, Postgres or even Kubernetes. You don't have to be proficient yet, we'll guide you along the way.
  • You prefer teamwork and collaboration. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do: decision-making, product development, code reviews, and when defining our work culture.
  • This is why we highly value strong communication and interpersonal skills. You should be proficient in conveying ideas clearly in both spoken and written English. Proficiency in additional languages is a bonus.
